Stanley Yelnats is under a curse because his No-Good-Dirty-Rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-Grandfather. He gets sent to a Boys Detention Center to build character,so he gets to dig holes
everyday. Then there's the Warden. Well, there is history about her and her Grandfather also making her dig holes. The secret as to why they're digging holes is to search for treasure. Stanley makes a deal with Zero, a boy at the detention center. He will teach Zero how to read and write, and Zero will dig holes for Stanley. Zero then gets into a fight with another boy and he runs off. Now Stanley has to go search for him. You'll have to read the book to know the rest.
